More than 2 Lakh students go abroad for higher studies, with US, UK, Australia, Canada, NZ, and Germany leading the chart. At Raman classes, we believe that you should go abroad only on scholarships, and not burdening your parents. Incidentally, most high ranked universities offer scholarship in addition to waiver of tuition fees. This way you have around 2-3 thousand dollars per month scholarship for your living expenses.
For getting scholarships, the following are recommended:
A good GRE score: GRE is an exam with two components, Verbal and Quantitative. Quantitative is not so difficult, but verbal section requires good preparation for Indian students. GRE also has essay writing part (AWA). GRE is 170 marks (quant), 170 marks (verbal) and AWA is awarded out of 6. Generally, the university will keep a cut-off to shortlist candidate based on GRE score. That means, minimum GRE score must be there, but very high GRE score might not fetch you a scholarship. Other things also matter.
TOEFL: grammar, speaking and listening test
Good research work and research publications
Nicely written statement of purpose
Letter of recommendation from reputed academicians
Additionally, if you have GATE score, you can get into NUS, NTU, TUM, etc.
At Raman classes, we prepare you for GRE and research. You would be trained to pick up a research topic like big data analytics, video surveillance, multimedia retrieval, etc. and do guided research.
